Penis Injury
Injury to the penis and testicles is the dread of all men. When the pubic organs are so sensitive that even getting kicked in the testicles can give a man up to an hour of heaving discomfort, the thought of anything more serious just sends shivers up the spine. Yet although the topic of what exactly is behind that pain in the penis may be unsavory, it must be discussed so that men can have a clear and healthy understanding of how injury to the pubic area can occur, what is going on when they experience penis pain, how to prevent it, how to treat it and what may be the short and long term effects worth watching out for.

Unlike breaking one’s arm or leg, a penis break involves broken tissue, and not a broken bone. If unexpected impact to the firm penis occurs, then such as a sudden and traumatic physical shock, then ripping ensues. This ripping can also extend to the urethra-the long tube which is responsible for letting urine and semen out of the penis. Other possible consequences resulting from this type of accident involve a penis that is cocked in the wrong direction and extreme penis pain. This pain in the penis can also come as a result of bruising.
Testicular injury is also very important to understand. Indeed, it is possible that every man has experienced this most awful sensation of being pegged in the testicles at some point in his life, especially those who lead more active, sporty lives, for whom the chances of having such an accident occur are much higher. But why is this so common? To begin with, the testicles hang down inside a sac-like layer of skin, called the scrotum, and with all but a bulls eye painted upon them, they are a prime target for all sorts of shots. Completely unprotected by muscles, bones or any such guarding devices that the body provides for most other organs and members of the reproductive system, the testicles have to go it alone, as it were. This said, there is, however, one thing that they do have going for them; because they are made of soft sponge-like material and are attached in a loose fashion to the body, the testicles are designed to be very good shock absorbers and therefore are able to prevent injury to some extent in this way.
When a minor testicular injury occurs, it is commonly associated with pain and temporarily debilitating nausea. One who experiences this can take painkillers, apply ice packs and lie down for a while until the discomfort subsides. But if one finds that this pain persists for more than an hour and is accompanied by fever and vomiting, it is likely that more serious testicular injury has occurred. Seek medical treatment right away.
Possible testicular injuries of a more serious nature include testicular torsion and testicular rupturing. Torsion involves the testicle being turned about so that its blood flow is cut off. While it is often the result of a direct impact to the testicles, it can also come from vigorous activity and sometimes even have no identifiable cause. Although often a doctor can use his hands to twist the testicles back into place, there are times when surgery is the only option. If testicular torsion is allowed to persist for more than six hours, chances are dramatically increased for permanent damage to occur, including a testicle being lost or decreased semen and testosterone output. Testicular rupture is also attributable to a forceful blow to the testicles so that they are knocked against the pubic bone. Once done, blood leaks into the scrotum and immediate surgery is required.
One of the terrible accomplices to any sort of testicular injury is the high likelihood of impeded testosterone production, which in turn, decreases a man’s libido, or sex drive, and thus negatively affects his potency. If one suspects that he is afflicted by testicular torsion or rupture and does not want to experience impotence, it is important to seek emergency medical help immediately.
